ACTUARIAL RECRUITMENT PROCESS
Before we make any applications, we will advise you on enhancing the
CV presentation. We don't manipulate your CV into our own standard
document - we very much want this to stay your personal marketing
presentation, so we work together with you until everybody is happy
with the final presentation.

- First we need to hear from you. Quantum Selection
is not in the habit of cold calling actuaries and
actuarial students so don’t wait around to
hear from us first.
- Next we will want to find out more about you
and your CV is a great first point of call for us,
as it
provides us with a good summary of your background
and experience. Remember that we treat your CV
with utmost confidentiality and it won’t go
anywhere at this stage (or anywhere at any time unless
you explicitly
ask for us to make an application on your behalf).
- We need not only to understand just your background
and experience, but also to assess your requirements
and expectations, particularly in view of the locations
that interest you, the type of job you want next
and your plans on timing of the move, so the next
step
will be to get in touch with you for a chat, either
in person or over the phone, and you can help us
build a picture of exactly what is important to you.
This
is the point where we can also answer your questions
and provide you with actuarial market information
about the locations that interest you.
- Once we have your CV and a clear understanding
of your requirements, we can put together a list
of actuarial job opportunities for you to consider.
Some
of these will involve a detailed job spec, but
others will be a more general or ongoing requirement
or a
suggestion where we know the company is always
interested in certain types of skills and candidates.
- Before we make any applications, we will advise
you on enhancing the CV presentation. We don’t
manipulate your CV into our own standard document – we
very much want this to stay your personal marketing
presentation, so we work together with you until
everybody is happy with the final presentation. This
may take
a bit of back and forth, but after all, this step
is key to securing those interviews for you!
- We will only go ahead with applications on your
behalf once you approve a shortlist of suitable
opportunities and companies where you wish to proceed.
We will follow
up with the companies for feedback and always try
to secure more detailed feedback on your behalf,
even
where the company declines to take the application
further.
- Where companies wish to interview you, we will
go ahead and facilitate arrangements and also provide
you with interview advice. Following the interview,
we provide your feedback to the company and vice
versa, and facilitate any further interviews or discussions.
- In the event the company wishes to make an offer,
we facilitate and support any following discussions
in an open and honest manner. Should you receive
more than one offer, we assist you in making your
choice
of employer.
- Following agreement on a start date, we ensure
all the plans are going smoothly for the move,
particularly where an international relocation is
involved. The
company will usually apply for any work permits,
but you will need to provide the information required
for
the application.
- Our job doesn’t end once you start your
new job. We are still on hand to provide a second
opinion or address any issues you may like to raise
with your
new employer. Very quickly, you will feel comfortable
enough to prefer to speak directly with your employer
without our input, but we still like to hear how
things are going as you settle in. Before you know
it, we’ll
be chatting again when you want to recruit for your
own team!
